Helen Axelson-Roddy, soprano, is a Modestan who
recently completed a successful run in the San Francisco
production of The Phantom of the Opera, alternating
as Carlotta and the Attendant. In September she enjoyed a major triumph,
stepping in at the last moment to take over the role of Rosalinda in
Uptown Opera of Spokane's production of Die Fledermaus. Other
operatic credits include the leading roles in La Boheme, Marriage of
Figaro, Un Giorno di Regno, I Paliacci, The Bartered Bride, La
Traviata, Carmen and The Telephone with companies in the Western
United States.
Ms. Roddy's repertoire also includes extensive musical theater experience,
having performed the lead roles in The Song of Norway, Oklahoma,
Camelot, and Red, Hot & Cole, among others. She was a District
Winner and Regional Finalist of the Metropolitan Opera Council
Auditions, a finalist in the San Francisco Opera Center/Merola Auditions,
and recipient of Sacramento Opera's Young Artist Advancement Award. Ms. Roddy looks forward
to her return to Uptown Opera for The Ballad of Baby Doe in early 1996.
