Hans Dornbusch

Born and raised in Gothenburg, Hans qualified there as a singing teacher from the College of Music and Opera College, where he studied with Gosta Kjellertz, Hjordis Schymberg and Hugo Hasslo. He made his debut as the age of 22 and was awarded a Jussi Bjorling scholarship in 1967. Since 1968 he has been a soloist at the Royal Theatre (Opera) in Stockholm, where he has sung principal roles in Turandot, Otello, Madam Butterfly, Il Travatore, I Pagliacci, Il Tabarro, Cavalleria Rusticana, The Flying Dutchman, Der Besuch der alten Dame and in mnay modern operas, children's operas and operettas. For 10 seasons he has also taken part in operas at Brottningholm Theatre. He appears regularly as a concert and oratorio singer and has made guest appearances in the Nordic countries, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece and Russia. He has made a number of appearances on Swedish television, for example in Ingmar Bergman's version of The Magic flute. He also works as a singing teacher and an actor, and has recently released Carl Orff's Carmina Burana on CD.
