No stranger to this role, Mr. Negrini was Ubaldo Piangi more than 1,700 times in the Los Angeles four-and-a-half-year smash run of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Known as the youngest tenor ever to sing a leading role in a major American opera house, he has performed with Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington Opera, Long Beach Grand Opera, Tulsa Opera, Opera Columbus, Opera Southwest and many others. With the Chicago Symphony he has sung the role of David in Die Meistersinger under the baton of Erich Leinsdorf. That same year he was Nanki-Poo in Peter Sellar's production of The Mikado and the Messenger in Aida with Luciano Pavarotti, both with Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mr. Negrini has been a winner of the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago auditions. He is also a well-known vocal coach and conductor in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife Lucia and their three children, Gina, Charlie and Sophie.
